And for the students at Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim, Goa, this sporting spirit reached new heights in 2025 with a series of thrilling inter-college football tournaments that will be remembered for years. 

🏆 The 2nd Inter-College Football Tournament: A Final to Remember

In August 2025, the big showdown of collegiate football took place at the DSYA Ground, Ambelim, where teams from across Goa battled for glory. Sanquelim’s squad — fiery, determined and spirited — fought their way to the final, where they met a strong side from CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim. 

The match was a dramatic roller-coaster:

15th minute: Sanquelim took the lead with a thunderous strike by Zaid Khan, sending thrills through the crowd. 

30th minute: CES College answered back through a long-range effort by Praveen Khole, bringing the teams level. 

52nd minute: The decisive goal came from Saiesh Gaonkar of CES College, clinching the trophy in a tight 2–1 victory. 

What made this final so special wasn’t just the scoreline — it was the heart and skill shown by both sides, especially Sanquelim’s players who battled fiercely till the final whistle.

🔥 The 1st Inter-Collegiate 7-a-Side Football Tournament

Not long after, in October 2025, Government College Sanquelim hosted their very own 7-a-side tournament at the VP Amona Ground — bringing together eight colleges from across Goa in a celebration of sport and college camaraderies

The event was inaugurated by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Namdev M. Gawas alongside community leaders, and witnessed impressive football from all sides. At the end of an exciting day:

🏆 Champions: Caculo College, Mapusa

🥈 Runners-Up: Government College, Sanquelim — a proud finish for the host team! 

Their performance showed that Sanquelim isn’t just competitive — it’s a destination for football excellence and sportsmanship in the collegiate circuit.
